The Citizens of Poway are not organized. The most recent election I talked to thousands of people who did not agree with the direction Poway is moving. Because of the current political environment in Poway, I do not believe our representatives have our best interests in mind. That is why I chose to run, though I knew it was an uphill battle.
In the recent elections, developers and associated groups spent several thousand dollars to support the incumbents and because of divide of opposing candidates and national party affiliations and endorsements, all the incumbents were re-elected.
I was a candidate and in the process talked to thousands of people around Poway who did not want what is planned for Poway. By the preliminary results we see that in most categories at least HALF of the voting population did not support the incumbent candidates. We also see that only about 1/3 of voters actually cast a ballot.
I knew it was an uphill battle. As soon as I saw that there were going to be multiple candidates running against the incumbents in several offices, I knew it was most likely the incumbents would win and they did. So now we have a choice. We have the chance to be organized.
The current representatives do not have our best interests in mind. Thousands of dollars were spent in our little town of Poway, with attack ads, anonymous threats and web pages, fake internet groups and support ads paid for by different parties and people mostly outside Poway with financial interests to gain.
They worked.....
I am sure some will say this is a response to losing the election. It is completely, but I can tell you the election has given us an opportunity. In this election several candidates ran with the same goal in mind, stopping what the current council is doing. That was the motivation for most of the people running, we want a better Poway and to keep Poway the city in the Country, not the future of Poway with 4 story buildings and horrific traffic, continuing errors and money lost.
We can either move or we can fight for our future. Now that the election is over, we can work together and spend our financial influence on making Poway better and stopping the waste of money, the building boom that will change our city forever and the boondoggles like the Poway pool remodel costing 3 million dollars and running over budget by $600k or the Senior Center issue that they tried to build using 25 million of our dollars and was only narrowly stopped, only to be reborn.
We have to get organized and we have to spread the message. By forming this group, we can spend the money to get the word out. I and all the others know that worked the streets and talked to the people that the 36% (current estimate) of the voters that actually voted in this election do not represent all voters.
We do not have the same fundraising limits as a group that the charter imposes on candidates. If we raise money, we can make a change in the local politics.
Below is my candidate page mostly for reference, I am just starting to work on this site and this group, but we should be energized and organized if we hope to have any effect on the future.
Please consider donating. You can currently use the donation page or if there are issues please call me at 858-669-3399 This is a work in process.
Please also note this is not about republican or democrat. 25 million dollars wasted on a new senior center does not care about pary. Whether you are red or blue, you will still be stuck in the safe traffic and have your views blocked.
We have to join together......

We want to ensure that Poway remains a great place to live in the future. We want the city to make intelligent informed decisions on important issues including financial management, future growth and keeping Poway safe, prosperous and fun!
As a resident of Heritage Hills since 2002 and daily park user I have watched a deterioration in the parks, management and planning in Poway.
Poway, one of America’s finest cities needs councilmembers that listen and respect the residents they represent. We need management that plans for the future while maintaining and improving our parks, trails, roads, infrastructure and open spaces.
We moved to Poway because it was not Carmel Mountain with its traffic, high density, endless shopping centers and urban feel.
Now the “City in the Country” has declining parks and multiple high density housing projects with up to 20% less parking planned into the recently approved Poway Corridor Plan.
As a small business owner in real estate and someone who drives Poway Road daily, I think that means more traffic and more cars parked on side streets. I have a proven record of professional management experience in companies such as Jenny Craig and Pepsi turning around troubled systems.
I want to Move Poway Forward by making Poway exceptional with world
class parks, trails and neighborhoods. I ask for you to Vote Jon Ryan for
District 1.
Please help me by giving me your vote. And please tell
your friends!
I know we have been promised this in the past and unfortunately its is a promise I do not think has been delivered. I am running to follow thru
